The January 9th, 2007 meeting of the Permian Basin Speleological Society was called to order sharply at 7:03 PM at Murray's Deli in the back room.
Treasurers Report: Barry Hayes gave a treasurers report and stated that we had $454.43 and that John Hancock had just rejoined and given a $5.00 donation we now have $474.43. He reported that some old time members had NOT rejoined and that they would be dropped from the lists. A special newsletter mailing (US Mail) had went out and had yielded us but 1 old member to rejoin.
Old Business: The December Club Christmas Party was deemed a success and will probably be done again next year (December 15th, 2007), Kel Thomas was still soliciting trip reports for the newsletter and had no takers.
New Business: A brief discussion of the upcoming Amazing Maze Cave trip slated for 1-20-07 was discussed and it looks like maybe 3 people are going to attend. You must be a TCMA member to go on this trip as that is the land owner/TCMA management agreement and there is no tolerance on this. You are either a member and you go or you are not and will not be allowed in.
It was decided that The PBSS would buy Walter Feaster's survey instruments and pay him $50.00 for them. Currently they are in Tony Grieco's hands in Hobbs and as soon as we get them from Tony, we will write Walter a check.
It was also voted on and decided that effective 2007 Walter Feaster would be a Honorary member. Walter put in many years of hard work and dedication to the PBSS as he was Secretary/Treasurer and newsletter editor for many years. He was also the standard for many years, being the one to keep the club together so to speak.
The Clark Ranch Dig, Bradford Cave Gate repair, and survey is slated for February 10th and the 17th of March.
The TSA (Tentatively scheduled) Spring Convention will be 4-14-07. Jacqui Thomas, being the new VP of the TSA and is planning this convention. She solicited the PBSS for help with several tasks. We decided to help Mike Circherski, the TSA Treasurer with the registration.
The Permian Basin Outing Club was mention as some of their trips and web site may be of interest to PBSS members. http://www.pboc.info
May 12th, 2007, the PBSS will have an open house day at ESS Cave and will be announced and open to all cavers. More to come.
June 16th, 2007, Guadalupe Cave trip TBA, one of the LNFS caves and will be organized by John Hancock.
November 2007 sometime a trip to McKittrick Hill to be organized by Barry Hayes.
The meeting was adjourned sharply at 8:14 PM.
respectfully submitted by Bill Bentley
2006-2007 PBSS President.
