Answering Bill's question about SWR:

Winter Tech was really fun--the facilities were good--Dona Ana Community College next to NM University in Las Cruces. Over 70 attendees. The hosting Mesilla Grotto members provided housing at 3 different homes, with pizza being eaten by multitudes at the Peermans' when I arrived Friday night. (They saved me some).

All the talks were interesting but some stood out--Penny Boston did 2 great presentations, one on some research ramifications of lava tubes on Mars (and I didn't realize that there are some tubes on the Moon). John Lyles caught us up on the recent Lech surveys and showed pictures of some newly discovered areas. Also an update on the Dry Cave survey. Cave archeology, hydrology, Fort Stanton, NCKRI, LED developments, CRF. GypKaP, oil exploration, geology--a well-organized variety.

Presentations ran a little late but the delay didn't keep us from getting good Mexican food and "trimmings" at SWR President Allen Wright's house. Some of us stayed up later than others because both cave trips started at 8 am Sunday.

The SWR Meeting: We elected Mike Bilbo to replace Kathy Peerman as Secretary (she requested replacement). Allen Wright is still Chair, John Lyles VC, and Patti Daw, Treas, all by acclamation. In response to a request from Jim Goodbar, we discussed closure of McKittrick Hill Caves for restoration. McKittrick, Sand and Endless are all showing signs of wear (and, sadly, damage, accidental and not). SWR will hold its Spring meeting at McKittrick Hill (probably in March) to do inventory and offer input re: a restoration plan.

I would heartily recommend SWR attendance to everyone--PBSS is a member Grotto.

Jacqui

Subject: [NMCAVER] New Web Hosting Servers

  Greetings...
It cost me nearly a full nights sleep, but all 6 Gb of my web site has been transferred with only a few minor glitches to the new web hosting servers. I now have 250 Gb of web storage space and up to 350 Gb of bandwidth available per month. The mailing list for the PBSS and the New Mexico Cavers all set up and is running without a hitch so far.
There may be some minor tweaks needed as is yet to be seen...

How was the SWR Winter Regional?
  Bill
