My neighbor is starting a hosting company, sonicwhale.com.
They are in beta right now.
Running a list like this will be no added expense to my $10/month account.
I could do it.

I'd prefer to avoid yahoo groups.  I have had a lot of trouble with yahoo.
I haven't tried google groups, but you could give them a try.

A private service would be preferable, since some sensitive information 
might
leak to the list.   For max privacy, I could serve the list from my 
home, but
I do not guarantee commercial-class uptime.  (It may go away for a day
or two once or twice a year for maintenance)

I know that I can assign as many admins as we need from home.
I could probabally do similar through sonicwhale.
