We have been receiving some fake e-mails supposedly from the IRS. DO NOT REPLY TO THESE

First of all, the IRS does not send you e-mails. The e-mails tease you with a supposed refund of overpayment and asks you to click on a link. I unraveled one and it was to a URL in Hungary.

The messages vary slightly, but here is one:

From:
"service at irs.gov"<service at irs.gov>
Subject:
IRS Notification - Fiscal Activity
Date:
Friday, August 24, 2007 11:25:00 AM

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $176.55. Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 6-9 days in order to process it.
A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons. For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.

Isn’t the copyright notice an interesting touch!!
I am not sure how to pursue this (or if I should), so if anyone has a suggestion contact me off line.
