Ess Cave Open House Saturday, May 12th, 2007

The Permian Basin Speleological Society (PBSS) invites all cavers to visit
Ess Cave, located near Iraan in West Texas, the weekend of May 12th. Ess
Cave lies in the heart of the Yates Oil Field in Pecos County.

Ess Cave is a good beginner cave, but is great fun for any caver. It's big
enough to get lost in, and impossible to stay lost for long.

Vertical gear is not required, but if you bring it there are even more
opportunities to play.

Ess Cave has a long history as a party cave for locals and has been a PBSS
clean-up project. (In 1996 we removed 3 dump truck loads of trash from the
cave). Open House attendees who are compulsive restorers are welcome to work
on the graffiti but this is not a requirement to attend.

There is primitive camping right next to the cave entrance. (There is no
water). The terrain is campfire friendly. (It is dry and there are rocks).

If you like, you can come as early as Friday afternoon and stay into Sunday.
Bring what you want to eat and drink. PBSS will provide Saturday hors
d'oeuvres (small munchy things).

Reminders will be posted. More information is available from PBSS Chairman
Bill Bentley caver at caver.net or Jacqui Thomas jlrbills at sonoratx.net. If you
know you're coming and you don't know how to get there, let one of us know
and we will get directions to you.

We look forward to seeing you!
