Pulling the rope out of the pit!  What a great idea!  My rotator cuff has
had more than one problem from pulling rope.

Interesting concept.

MAD was built by Nevin Davis, Nittany Grotto, using (I believe) a McCullough
chain saw engine.  And yes, he did use it at Golondrinas.  In addition to
climbing the rope, it was just dandy for pulling the rope out of the pit.

Nevin also built some of the early, successful, fluorscent  helmet-mounted
caving lights that reproduced the unfocused light of a carbide.  I still
have one someplace, but the bulb is broken.
