Getting to the Convention
Transportation A - By Car B - By Air C - By Bus or Train
By Automobile
The nearest major interstate is I-5, which runs north-south through
Bellingham. I-5 is the best way to reach Bellingham by car if you are
coming from the south. If you are traveling from the east, take I-90 or
I-80 to I-5 north, depending on your point of origin. According to
Mapquest, driving times and mileage from major U.S. cities are as follows:
Seattle - 1h 30m - 90 miles
Los Angeles - 18h 45m - 1227 miles
Chicago - 32h - 2150 miles
Houston - 38h - 2525 miles
New York - 45h - 2937 miles
Atlanta - 42h - 2780 miles
Indianapolis - 35h - 2331 miles

By Plane
[http://www.nss2006.com/Photos/Caves/rainierplane.jpg]There is a commercial
airport in Bellingham, which is currently served by Delta, Horizon Air and
West Isle Air. West Isle Air only flies to the San Juan Islands and so will
not be a practical choice for most travelers. Horizon Air flies to Seattle,
a major international airport served by every major U.S. airline and many
international airlines. Delta air is now offering service from Salt Lake
City, Utah and will be the most practical choice. This is a new service
added very recently. The Seattle-Bellingham flight is about 40 minutes on a
37-seat turboprop. Passengers may also choose to fly into Seattle and
drive, which may prove to be cheaper and more practical than a flight to
Bellingham, or fly into Vancouver, B.C. and drive, although that requires
clearing customs. Passengers who fly into Seattle but do not wish to rent a
car can ride the Bellair Airporter Shuttle, which departs ten times a day.
The cost is $32 one-way or $55 round-trip for one adult.

By Train
[http://www.nss2006.com/Photos/Caves/Amtrak.jpg]Amtrak serves Bellingham at
Fairhaven Station. The Cascades route runs north-south from Vancouver, B.C.
to Eugene, OR. From Seattle and Portland, passengers can take the Coast
Starlight as far south as Los Angeles or the Empire Builder as far east as
Chicago.

By Bus
Greyhound serves Bellingham at Fairhaven Station. The nearest major cities
served are Seattle and Vancouver.

Getting Around
Bellingham has many taxi services and public transportation, provided by the
Whatcom Transportation Authority (http://www.ridewta.com).

The NSS 2006 Convention committee hopes to see you in August!
